The rugged and versatile Ford Transit has been a popular van for mobile professionals ever since its launch in 1965. Today it comes in multiple height variants (from 2 to 2.7 metres) and length variants (from 4.97 to over 7 metres) and offers payloads in excess of 1,500 kg and volumes of up to 15 cubic metres. The medium size Transit Custom won the International Van of the Year title in 2013, just one year after it was launched to complement the Ford range. It is sold in a number of variants, ranging in height from a minimum of 1.98 metres to a maximum of 2.5 metres and in length from 4.97 to 5.34 metres. The Custom can be powered by a diesel engine or an all-electric drivetrain with a range of up to 380 km. Load volume can be up to 7.7 cubic metres. Like any other van, the Custom can have racking installed on one or both sides and even on the bulkhead. In the van shown in these photos, the owner opted to install racking on both sides, with drawers and shelves on the left and transparent containers, shelves and case trays on the right. To make working on board easier, a fold-away vice bench has been added. This accessory occupies very little space when closed but extends to form a practical and robust work surface.
